Bonney Gives Mike Stoops High Marks
It's definitely apparent that Oklahoma's defensive coordinator, Mike Stoops loves to put numerous defensive backs on the field, sometimes even up to seven on the field at once. With that in mind it's been no surprise to see the emphasis on defensive back recruiting in the class of 2013 and now moving into the class of 2014. Among those 2014 targets is Houston (Texas) Lamar safety prospect, John Bonney who has been hearing from the Sooners and is talked about as being one of the more talented defensive backs in the loaded Lone Star State secondary class of seniors to be.
Bonney's contact with the Sooner staff has been headed up by Stoops and linebackers coach, Tim Kish/db]. This past summer during a satellite camp the 6-foot-1 and 180-pound prospect got his chance to work with the Sooners defensive coordinator and was impressed by what he saw.
